At the 2026 Workers’ Day Celebration in Lagos on Friday

‎The staff of Imota Local Council Development Area joined millions of workers across Lagos State on Friday, May 1, 2026, to commemorate the 2026 International Workers’ Day celebration, reaffirming their commitment to productivity, dedication, and quality service delivery at the grassroots level.

‎The colourful event, held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, brought together labour leaders, government officials, public servants, and other stakeholders from across the state to celebrate the invaluable contributions of workers to the growth and development of Lagos State.

‎The Imota LCDA delegation was led by the Branch Chairman of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Imota LCDA Branch, and Chairman of Chairmen (C of C), Conference of Ikorodu Branch Chairman, Comrade Olatayo Taiwo Hassan, alongside members of the NULGE executive and council workers who actively participated in the annual celebration.

‎Comrade Olatayo expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, for prioritising workers’ welfare and maintaining cordial relationships with members of staff. He pledged the continued cooperation and support of workers toward the successful implementation of the administration’s policies and programmes.

‎He noted that the Workers’ Day celebration organised by the Lagos State Government further demonstrated the importance attached to the welfare, dignity, and contributions of workers to the socio-economic advancement of the state and the nation at large.

‎Also speaking, the Council Manager, Mr. Olusegun Akinyemi, commended members of staff for their resilience, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to their official duties despite the prevailing economic challenges confronting the country.

‎Mr. Akinyemi stated that the achievements recorded by the present administration in the areas of infrastructure development, environmental sanitation, healthcare support, educational intervention, and social welfare programmes would not have been possible without the collective efforts and dedication of the council workforce. According to him, workers remain the engine room of governance and must continually be appreciated and supported.

‎He therefore urged workers to sustain the spirit of diligence, professionalism, punctuality, and integrity in the discharge of their responsibilities, stressing that efficient service delivery remains essential to achieving sustainable development across communities within Imota LCDA.

‎The 2026 Workers’ Day celebration created an atmosphere of unity, solidarity, and appreciation for the immense contributions of workers to grassroots governance and community development.
